The West Australian port city of Fremantle has been named one of the world's 50 best places to travel by Time Magazine.
Fremantle is one of two places in Australia named on the list, alongside the Great Barrier Reef.
Time described Fremantle as a great place to "eat, drink and be Aussie".
"After nearly 700 days of pandemic shutdown, the Australian port city of Fremantle is bustling with food and drink openings," the article said.
Fremantle Chamber of Commerce chief executive Danicia Quinlan said the news was very exciting.
"I love the authenticity of Fremantle, the fact that it's a port city," she said.
"We've got this incredible marine environment on our doorstep, you've got the heritage of the West End and it's a place where you can just wander and explore.
Ms Quinlan said Freo had something for everyone and that having the University of Notre Dame situated in the West End had helped to revitalise the city.
"The West End is such an underrated asset for us and the fact that Notre Dame invested so much in those beautiful old buildings and filled them with students makes such a difference," she said.
Fremantle Deputy Mayor Frank Mofflin said the city benefited from a "really collaborative community".
"People in Fremantle work together to bring [the city] along and provide those kind of activities, those businesses and the exciting attractions," he said.
Over the past five years, redevelopment works have been undertaken to revitalise the city, including a $270-million development of Kings Square in the CBD and the stabilisation of the heritage-listed Whalers Tunnel.
