Democratic vice presidential nominee Tim Walz was involved in a motorcade crash on Monday while heading to a campaign stop in Milwaukee. The incident occurred on Interstate 794, involving vans at the back of the motorcade. Fortunately, Walz, who is also the governor of Minnesota, was unharmed as he was riding closer to the front.

President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris both reached out to Walz after the crash. Harris, who was campaigning in Detroit, spoke with Walz by phone to ensure his well-being. The White House confirmed that Harris was briefed on the collision and checked on the staff involved.

Images shared on social media depicted the aftermath of the crash, showing crumpled vans with damage to their front and backends. Some minor injuries were reported among the passengers, including a member of the press who suffered an injured arm and was treated by medics.

Upon arriving at the campaign event, Walz addressed the crash, reassuring that everyone involved would be okay. He expressed gratitude to President Biden, Vice President Harris, the US Secret Service, and local first responders for their swift response.

Following the event, Walz and his motorcade made a stop at the hospital to check on the staff members who were injured. Reporters traveling in the van involved in the crash sustained minor injuries, with some having scrapes, bruises, and a bloody nose. Medical personnel assessed those who required attention.

The crash occurred shortly before 1 p.m. local time, causing a brief delay in the campaign schedule. Despite the incident, Walz continued with his campaign stops alongside Harris, marking Labor Day as their first joint event aboard the Harris-Walz campaign charter aircraft.

The campaign aircraft, adorned with an American flag and the slogan 'A New Way Forward,' symbolizes the unity and vision of the Harris-Walz ticket as they continue their journey towards the upcoming election.
