Stacy Wakefield, the widow of former Boston Red Sox pitcher and two-time World Series champion Tim Wakefield, has passed away at the age of 53. Her family announced her death, which occurred at her Massachusetts home on Wednesday, less than five months after Tim's passing at the age of 57.

The family shared that Stacy was surrounded by loved ones, caretakers, and nurses during her final moments. The loss of both Tim and Stacy in such a short span of time has left their family heartbroken.

While the family mentioned a diagnosis, the specific cause of Stacy's death was not disclosed. In September, it was revealed by Tim's former teammate Curt Schilling that both Wakefields had been battling cancer, with Tim having brain cancer and Stacy facing pancreatic cancer. Schilling's disclosure of this information without their consent drew both support for the Wakefields and criticism for the breach of privacy.

Described as a strong, loving, and kind individual, Stacy will be remembered for her down-to-earth nature. The family finds solace in the belief that she is now reunited with Tim, whom she considered the love of her life. Stacy and Tim leave behind their children, Trevor and Brianna.

Aside from Tim's accomplishments on the baseball field, both he and Stacy were known for their philanthropic efforts in the Boston community. Stacy actively participated in charitable endeavors alongside her husband, supporting organizations such as the Red Sox Foundation and the Jimmy Fund, which focuses on childhood cancer.

The Wakefields' legacy extends beyond their sporting achievements, as they have left an indelible mark through their generosity and dedication to helping others.
