Tim Sherwood predicts what Jurgen Klopp will do if Liverpool miss out on top four

Tim Sherwood believes Jurgen Klopp will walk away from his role as Liverpool manager should the Reds fail to finish in the top four this season.

Eight points adrift of Newcastle United, who currently occupy the final Champions League spot, Liverpool face a battle on their hands to turn their campaign around after another damaging defeat in the top flight.

Leeds United became the fourth team to inflict a loss on the Reds this term following their win at Anfield on Saturday night, which laid bare all that is wrong with Klopp's men at this moment in time.

The Liverpool boss will know all too well this kind of form cannot continue if his team are to qualify for Europe's elite competition for an eighth successive season and Sherwood can picture a scenario whereby the German quits his current post should this aim fail to be achieved.

“If they don’t finish in the top four, the manager will have to sit down with the hierarchy there and see if he has the motivation to carry on," the former Tottenham Hotspur boss told Sky Sports on Saturday afternoon.

Sherwood added: "I don’t think he’ll be able to pick it up and go again. I think he’ll leave [if they finish outside the top four].”
