Tim Sherwood delivers verdict on VAR decisions as he makes Leeds United survival prediction

Tim Sherwood believes VAR got the decision wrong to allow Tottenham Hotspur's first goal but believes Leeds United will avoid relegation this season. The Whites were beaten 4-3 in the capital despite taking the lead on three separate occasions, with Rodrigo Bentancur netting twice in quick succession late on to earn Spurs the win.

Leeds, though, were left frustrated with the decision not to disallow Harry Kane's equaliser in the first half. Illan Meslier appeared to be fouled in his attempts to punch away a corner as he was bundled into his net, allowing the ball to fall straight at the feet of Kane.

Jesse Marsch revealed in his post-match press conference that the fourth official told him he though it was a foul, but Paul Tierney at Stockley Park decided against intervening. Speaking on Sky Sports, Sherwood thinks Spurs 'got away' with one but says Leeds should take heart from their performance.

He said: "I was convinced it was, they got away with it. Lenglet I think it was pushed into Meslier, he hardly has a chance. He's jumped into him, he's not looking at the ball and has knocked the goalkeeper who has palmed it down.

"Harry's got a lot to do, his first touch is quality and he just volleys it past him. It was a foul and I think Tottenham got away with one. But then I think Leeds got away with one I think in the 3-2 goal from Rodrigo.

"Bentancur gets clearly fouled in the midfield area, VAR look at it and decide to play on so I think it is 1-1 there. Tottenham just edged it because they've got more quality in forward areas but Leeds, large quantity of fans went down there, they were pleased with what they saw.

"They saw a lot of heart and a lot of desire. Summerville, Adams and Rodrigo are playing very, very well so I wouldn't worry about them getting relegated and that is the priority for them."
