Former Democratic Ohio Rep. Tim Ryan recently shared some advice for Vice President Kamala Harris as she gears up to debate JD Vance, who defeated Ryan in the 2022 Senate race. Ryan emphasized that Harris, with her unique qualifications, should focus on holding Vance accountable for his statements during the debate.
According to Ryan, Vance has a tendency to deny things he has said in the past and engage in shape-shifting tactics to deflect from tough questions. Ryan believes that Harris's background as a prosecutor could be a valuable asset in confronting Vance's attempts to evade direct answers.
Ryan stressed the importance of pinning Vance down during the debate and exposing any falsehoods or inconsistencies in his arguments. By challenging Vance on his statements and holding him accountable for his words, Ryan believes that Harris can effectively counter Vance's tactics.
It is worth noting that the Biden administration had initially agreed to two potential dates for a vice presidential debate with Vance, scheduled for July 23 and August 13. However, a campaign official recently confirmed that a third date, August 12, has now been accepted as an additional option for the debate.
