Tim Hortons to open first Manchester city centre store - with giveaways on opening date

Canadian coffee giant Tim Hortons will open its first Manchester city centre diner later this month with the promise of a huge giveaway to the first customers. The new Tim Hortons will be based on Market Street right at the heart of Manchester's main shopping hub.

It will become the eighth Tim Hortons restaurant in Greater Manchester, but the first time they've ventured into the heart of the city centre. Other GM stores include in Stockport, Salford and Bury while plans are afoot to open one in Oldham too.

The brand has become famous for its range of coffees, freshly-baked donuts and breakfast offering. And bosses say there are special plans afoot to reward the first in the queue when it officially opens on Monday, May 30 from 7am.

Located in a huge corner unit of the Manchester Arndale Centre entered off Market Street, the first customer in the queue will be awarded with free drinks for a whole year, a prize which bosses say will be worth a staggering £3,100. The brand will also give away a free breakfast meal to its first 100 customers on the opening day.

Tim Hortons will also run a series of giveaways including free drinks and donuts for those who activate their Tim Hortons digital wallet. Guests will simply need to scan the QR code found at the restaurant or via their mobile to activate the rewards wallet.

Famed for its Canadian charm, the new restaurant will be open from 6am till midnight, seven days a week at the new Market Street location. The menu will feature best-selling items, including Timbits, Iced Capps, Freshly Baked Donuts and Tim's Crispy Chicken Sandwich.

Bosses say the new launch comes following the "brand’s exploration into the perfect city centre location, with Manchester coming out on top thanks to its perfect mix of city and cultural buzz, student activity, families, tourism and the influx of local jobs". Since the opening of the first Manchester restaurant at Bury Mill Gate back in December 2017, Tim Hortons has provided over 400 jobs for Mancunians across each of its eight locations, offering a combination of full-time and part-time roles with progression and training opportunities.

Kevin Hydes, Chief Commercial Officer of Tim Hortons franchise in the UK, said there's a "lot of love" for the brand in Greater Manchester. He said: "This is an incredibly exciting time for all of us at Tim Hortons as we launch our high street restaurant in Manchester.

"With this being our eighth location in Greater Manchester, we have never been closer to each of the different communities in the city. We look forward to being able to serve each and every one, no matter the location.

“There is a huge amount of love for Tim Hortons in Manchester already, and as a city that is so focussed on food and dining experimentation, we are delighted to be able to bring them something special, with affordable prices and a menu that caters to everyone’s needs.”
