Chicago White Sox shortstop Tim Anderson is one of baseball’s brightest stars, but these past few days in Cleveland have certainly been ones to forget.
During Game 1 of Wednesday’s doubleheader against the Guardians, Anderson had himself a three-error game at shortstop. He started the game with a throwing error, which ultimately resulted in a run. He followed that up with a two-error second inning that helped spark a nine-run inning for the Guardians.
Baseball players love the “short memory” cliché, but when you’re struggling like Anderson did on Wednesday, it’s tough to hold back frustrations and move on. We saw that when Anderson flipped off someone in the crowd right as the TV cameras were focused on him. (Warning: Obscene gesture)

Anderson declined to comment to reporters on the gesture after the game, but he did say that it was something he can grow from. Via suntimes.com:
“You need things like that to happen, You want to be great, so you’ve got to always go through the process where you learn, to where you understand yourself. In a situation I haven’t been in, haven’t been there before. It’s something you can learn and grow from.”
Come Thursday, though, the struggles continued for Anderson. On his first attempt at fielding the ball in Thursday’s game, he committed a throwing error — his fourth error in 24 hours.

Anderson committed 10 errors all of last year at shortstop. He already has four a couple weeks into the season, which isn’t ideal.
