Ever wonder how those giant cruise ships get in and out of port?

The amount of cooperation and skill required to move these gargantuan floating cities is quite impressive.

Port of Miami is one of the busiest cruise ports in the world. A new viral video by "The Cruise Spotter" shows cruise ships in the port moving sideways. Yes, sideways.

Comments on TikTok gave some mad props to the captains and crews of these ships.

“Seeing the ship back up why am I imagining the Captain in his chair arm extended looking over his shoulder turning the wheel,” said TikTok user los95crod.

These ships are equipped with numerous ways to maneuver through busy ports and vast oceans.

"Cruise ships have the ability to maneuver in tight spaces, despite their large size. This is especially necessary for them when entering and leaving ports or navigating in narrow waterways. To move the ship sideways, a special technique known as ‘thruster steering’ can be used," said Cruise Ship Cloud

Port of Miami-based cruise lines like Norwegian Cruise Line (NCLH) -), Celebrity Cruise, and Royal Caribbean (RCL) -) all follow the same guidelines to move in and out of port to avoid crashes. It takes a whole team of people and a bunch of technology to get these ships moving.
