TikTok user enjoys day out in Dublin on a budget of €20

Lonely Planet has shown TikTok audiences how to have a successful day out in Dublin on just over €20.

The video, which was originally posted in January, shows the TikTok user starting off her day in search of a cheap coffee and snack. She ends up purchasing a small Americano and bun in well-known café Simon’s Place off George’s Street Arcade, which amounted to a €5 total.

The Lonely Planet user revealed: “It’s almost impossible to get a cheap coffee in Dublin, but a small Americano in Simon’s Place is just €2.20. They’re also famous for their cinnamon buns, so I had to get one too. That cost €2.80.”

The content creator also decided to avail of Dublin’s free experiences in order to cut costs. She attended the National Gallery, encouraging anyone interested in art to make use of the free attraction on a day out, particularly as it opens seven days a week.

The video received over 5,000 likes on the platform. People were quick to praise the challenge in the comments section, with a tourist expressing interest in re- visiting Dublin to check out the affordable recommendations on offer.

One user wrote: “Thank you so much. Now I’ll need to scout bargain airfares and come back for a few days.”

A pint was a slightly more costly option for the afternoon out, however, as Lonely Planet shared that a Guinness in Dublin’s Long Hall Pub amounted to €5.80. The user then bought a book in the independent Winding Stair bookshop on Ormond Quay, which was an additional €3.00.

The TikTok user then went in search of dinner, ending up in Aobaba on Capel Street. A dish of vegan pho cost €7, which concluded the day out. The user went just slightly over-budget by spending a grand total of €20.80 on her travels.
