TikTok Toddlers are on the rise as British parents admit to letting their children access the online platform – despite the app’s age limit.
Around 16% of children ages three to four scroll through TikTok content, according to a report by media regulator Ofcom.
Parents said their children under five years old have been allowed to use the social platform.
But the app restrictions state users must be over 13 years old.
However, the report found one third of children aged five to seven years old owned a TikTok account as a growing number of children have been getting access to social media.
TikTok was found to be the most popular platform among eight to eleven-year-olds who have social media.
As many as one in three of the eight to eleven year olds said they owned a TikTok account.
A spokesman for the viral video-sharing platform said: “We have processes in place to enforce our minimum-age requirements, both at the point of sign-up and through the continuous proactive removal of suspected under-age accounts from the platform.
“Nothing is more important to us than the safety of our community, especially young people.”
The Standard have to TikTok for further comment.
