TikTok star viciously knocked out after referee missed towel being thrown in

TikTok star Ginty needed medical attention after being viciously knocked out in just his second boxing match last night as the referee missed the towel being thrown in.

The social media star, who has around a million followers across his various channels, took the fight with 6'5" YouTuber Joel 'JMX' Morris on short notice after a number of opponents pulled out of KSI's second Misfits Boxing event. And despite being viewed as a stepping stone for his opponent, Ginty managed to land a knockdown of his own in the first round.

He had already been floored during what had seemed like a routine outing for Morris, who had boxed twice prior and competed in MMA, before sneaking a left hand that caught his rival off balance. However, the success was short-lived as Morris got back up and found his footing in the second round.

And in the third round, JMX's power showed through as he piled on the pressure and about a minute into the round landed a huge right hand that saw Ginty out on his feet. The towel was quickly thrown in, but the referee was caught up in the action and JMX landed a thudding knockout to announce his return to the ring.

Luckily, Ginty was quickly attended to by medics and was able to get back to his feet, before embracing Morris and enjoying the post-fight celebrations in Sheffield. He was seen doing joint interviews backstage with his opponent, as well as showing up at the after-party.

"I can do so much better than that," Morris told Mirror Fighting after the bout. "I didn't show what I know I can do, so that was why I was p***ed off. But we got the win and we got the knockout."

Morris was mocked for his performance post-fight on Twitter by Logan Paul, who previously was considering a fight with the Brit in 2020, with boxing and MMA bouts being tabled before coronavirus lockdowns curtailed plans. The WWE star, who most recently boxed Floyd Mayweather, was unimpressed in a video shared to Twitter watching JMX get dropped.

"I've seen Logan Paul talking s*** on Twitter. Talking s*** about the one knockdown like he's never been knocked down - like he's ever won a fight by the way! He talks like a man who knows what it's like to win a fight, he hasn't and when he met me in Miami he wasn't about it.

"He wanted to fight me in MMA, boxing whatever until he met me in Miami and thought 'f*** me, you're bigger than I thought', he didn't have much to say after that. He went cold and now he's trying to get loud. January Misfits [Paul's touted return date] if you want to run let's f***ing run it. I'm going to knock you the f*** out!"
