TikToker-turned-actress Ruth Codd has been announced as the latest addition to the cast of Universal's live-action adaptation of DreamWorks Animation's How to Train Your Dragon. The film, currently shooting in Ireland, is being helmed by Dean DeBlois, the writer, director, and executive producer of the original trilogy.

Codd joins Mason Thames and Nico Parker, who are set to portray the beloved characters Hiccup and Astrid. Gerard Butler, known for voicing Stoick the Vast in the animated version, will reprise his role in the live-action adaptation, alongside Nick Frost as Gobber the Belch.

Other cast members include Julian Dennison, Gabriel Howell, Bronwyn James, and Harry Trevaldwyn. Codd will be playing the role of Phlegma, a character originally voiced by Ashley Jensen in the animated movie.

The film is being produced by Marc Platt Productions, with Marc Platt and Adam Siegel at the helm. The release date for the feature has been set for June 13, 2025.

Ruth Codd rose to fame through her personal videos, where she shared her experiences living with an amputated leg. Her talent caught the eye of casting directors, leading to roles in Netflix's The Midnight Club and Mike Flanagan's The Fall of the House of Usher series. She has also appeared in Chris O'Dowd's Small Town Big Story and the Irish series The Dry.

Represented by Hamilton Hodell and Authentic Talent & Literary Management, Codd's journey from TikTok sensation to established actress continues to captivate audiences worldwide.
