TikTok star Megha Thakur dies 'suddenly and unexpectedly' aged 21

The devastated parents of TikTok star Megha Thakur have confirmed that their daughter has died at the age of just 21. The Canadian social media star, who gained 930,000 followers by promoting body confidence on her platform, died on November 24 in the early hours of the morning.

Her parents shared the heart-breaking news online and wrote: "It is with heavy hearts we announce the light of our life, our kind, caring, and beautiful daughter, Megha Thakur, suddenly and unexpectedly passed away on 24 November 2022 in the early morning hours. She loved her fans and would have wanted you to know of her passing, reports The Mirror.

"At this time, we request your blessings for Megha. Your thoughts and prayers will be with her in her onward journey". They signed the post ‘Megha’s loving parents'.

Her parents did not confirm how Megha died, although reports in Canada say that she was involved in a car collision in Ontario. Since starting up her platform in 2019, Megha had acquired 31.9million likes from her body positive TikToks.

Friends and fans were in shock, with one writing: "Please god no this can’t be happening." Another commented: "Sending my thoughts and prayers to your family. She was such a talented and kind young woman. May she Rest In Peace."

A third wrote: "Megha knew how much of a force she was in the influencer space and how many women looked up to her, I told her all the time. We lost an angel too soon. I’m keeping you and your family in my thoughts."

While one fan wrote: "This is heart-breaking My deepest condolences to your family. I can’t believe it. Your daughter was remarkable. She showed us all how freeing and beautiful it is to be unapologetically yourself. I’m very sad that she is physically no longer here. But what she stood for, the confidence she exuded and instilled in her audience is a legacy that will live on forever. You will be missed Megha. Thank you for sharing your light with us."
