Wrestler and TikTok Sensation Ravie Davie is coming to Helensburgh this month for a special show where he’ll be joined by Burnistoun star Rab Florence.
Davie, whose name outside the ring is David McCallum, set up Community Pro Wrestling (CPW) in 2021 after battling mental health issues following the death of his mum, Catherine, when he was just six.
After dreaming of becoming a wrestler, Davie turned his hopes into reality, and now uses CPW to train up stars of the future – and keep them away from the life he used to lead.
He explained: “I experienced a serious loss and the way I dealt with my grief was through watching wrestling 24/7.
“I didn’t want to go with the social workers.
“Because I never thought I was going to be a wrestler, I wanted to be a part of something, so I joined a gang. I would go and do gang-fighting but in my head I would be wrestling. I have been seriously injured because of that, alongside being bricked, bottled and hit with hockey sticks.
“I started wrestling around eight years ago. Wrestling saved my life and now I’m trying to do the same for others.”
Davie is now excited for his first show in Helensburgh, which takes place at the Victoria Halls on June 18, and features town resident – and comedy star – Robert Florence as a special guest.
“Community Pro Wrestling coming to Helensburgh for the first time has got myself and the crew very excited” said Davie.
“It’s always good to do a new town and bring what we do at CPW to a new audience. Helensburgh is a place that we are very excited about.
“At CPW we pride ourselves in bringing the best action-packed, family-friendly entertainment at affordable prices.
“You can expect all the hard-hitting, high flying that you would see in the big wrestling companies like WWE and AEW, but with a Scottish twist.
“We firmly believe that we are the best form of affordable entertainment for families and go out of our way to prove that wrestling is a better form of entertainment than the circus, cinema or even a football match.
“Robert Florence being part of the show is one of the biggest things to happen to CPW.
“Scottish wrestling became popular when Grado and Rab Florence teamed up at the Kelvinbrawl.
“So to have Rab at our show a month after Grado is monumental and shows that we are to be taken seriously as a company, even though we are still in our infancy.”
As well as Florence, there is a star-studded lineup coming to Helensburgh featuring wrestlers like local hero Daihlin Hendry and Ashley Vega.
Ticket prices for the event are set at £7 for children, £10 for adults and £28 for family bundles and can be purchased at on Eventbrite.co.uk.
