TikTok sensation Karen's Diner famous for it's hilarious rude staff plans to open in Dublin

A restaurant famous for its rude staff and bad service, Karen's Diner, has revealed plans to expand further across the UK and into Ireland with sights set on Dublin.

The restaurant's concept is based on the viral 'Karen' internet meme, which pokes fun at antagonistic woman who are usually heard asking to 'speak to the manager'. The group was launched in Sydney in 2021 by Viral Ventures Global, which is a themed pop events business which now runs nine restaurants across Australia.

There are currently two Karen's Diner restaurants in the UK in Sheffield and Manchester. Another one is scheduled to open Birmingham's Grand Central shopping centre on September 1.

Restaurant bosses are also looking at location in London and Dublin to open Karen's Diner there, reports The Caterer. A visit to Karen's diner is not for the faint hearted as staff are rude to customers as soon as they walk in the door, abusing them with insults and rolling their eyes at any requests or questions.

The restaurant group describes itself as an "interactive diner and an absurdly fun experience". Waiters who give it socks to you are fully expecting you to do it in return with everyone in the scenario turning into a "Karen".

Items on the menu of Karen's diner restaurants in Australia and the UK include burgers, chicken tenders, fries and hotdogs. The eatery also serves cocktails as well milkshakes.

Reviews of the experience in the UK describe quick-witted staff who come out with great insults about peoples' names and place dunce hats on diners' heads. The group's Brisbane restaurant was recently made apologise to a visiting family after a staff member accused the daughter of having an OnlyFans account.

Karen's Diner has a number of rules for its staff to follow including "no racism, no sexism, no homophobic comments, no body image comments, no ableist comments".

While funny and rude comments are encouraged by both staff and visitors, customers are not permitted to touch or make sexual remarks towards each other.
