It appears that 2025 has just copped its first TikTok trend, and no one could’ve predicted that it would become the catalyst of a body-positive movement across the globe. Yep, that’s right. I’m talking about a full bush in a bikini.
As Australia continues to swelter away with heatwave after heatwave, there’s no doubt that a majority of us girlies are spending a huge chunk of time in our swimmers.
In my personal experience of trying to indulge in Sydney’s red-hot weather, my body image hits the shitter every time I put on a pair of cozzies, despite the constant messages of self-love and self-acceptance being repeated across social media.
From my weight to my body hair — especially after having my moustache ridiculed by an ex, which did some major damage — the anxious feeling just gets to a point of shame mixed with exhaustion.
However, during a hot evening, I was chucking my daily fat doom scroll ahead of taking a holiday shift on TikTok when I stumbled upon a video where a woman repeatedly said “full bush in a bikini”.
Who knew that those five simple words would spark not only the first internet trend of 2025 but also a body-positive, feminist movement we needed?
What is “full bush in a bikini”?
The term “full bush in a bikini” was first coined by an artist who posts under the username @sujindah, who kicked off their video by just saying “full bush in a bikini”.
They then went on to reveal that they saw an Etsy review for a bikini bottom where the woman had a fair amount of pubic hair, which left them feeling “radicalised”.
“I won’t share it but there was this one Etsy review for a bikini where the girl had a full bush and I got radicalised by that Etsy review,” they said in the view which has more than 1.4 million likes and 12.4 million views.
“Like yeah, that’s how it should be. That’s how it should be.”
As Sujindah’s video continues to go gangbusters on the social media platform, girlies rallied in the comment section to chat about public hair and the stigma surrounding a full bush in a bikini.
“I remember watching this old 70s / 80s movie and she had a full bush and I remember I gasped cuz I didn’t know it could even grow that much. Normalized it for me & thankful for it. Nothing wrong with it,” one person wrote.
“I forgot to shave this summer at the beach and I was so self-conscious at first but then I was like you know what? Hell yeah, here’s my bush. I can see a man’s bush when he wears a Speedo,” another person commented.
“This energy for 2025 and beyond,” wrote a third.
The internet rallies around “full bush in a bikini”
Following this simple Etsy review, folks across the internet from all walks of life have celebrated the beauty of having a full bush in a bikini — which we bloody love to see!
One content creator, who posts under @bravenewgirld, thanked the woman who made the Etsy review, claiming it “radicalised” her social media with feminist energy.
“Shout out to the girl who posted full bush in a bikini as their Etsy review and has subsequently radicalised my FYP with feminist energy,” she wrote.
Another TikToker, Eloise (@eloise_grace), took aim at folks who were trying to put a damper on the “full bush in a bikini” message.
“I keep seeing videos of women appreciating the bush in a bikini and the comments are full of ‘I shave because of sensory issues’, ‘I shave because the hair itches’, ‘not shaving is unhygienic’,” they began.
“I DO NOT CARE. GO AWAY. I WANT TO SEE MORE APPRECIATION.”
Hilariously, when a man commented, “but like don’t have it visibly hanging out of the bikini because that is fowl [sic]”, Eloise clapped back with a video, simply writing “BOOTS WITH THE FUR”.
While others (mostly men) continue to put their unwanted, unneeded, unimportant two cents on how much hair needs to be on someone’s pom pom, the girlies have been posting TikToks in full support of full bush in a bikini.
With 2025 kicking off with a trend like this — as well as Demi Moore‘s epic speech after winning her first Golden Globe for The Substance, a movie that touches upon the theme of beauty — I am truly looking forward to seeing what this year has in store for feminism and feminity.
