An influencer who is pushing back against traditional female beauty standards has shared photos of her going a year without shaving on TikTok.
Argentine Martina Diaz suffers from a syndrome that causes thick hair to grow all over her body and face.
She said: "A year ago, I realised that I didn't want to shave anymore.
"I realised all the suffering I had gone through because of hair, and I wondered what would happen if I let it grow.
"It shocked me that something that is exactly the same is so condemned in women and so accepted in men."
Argentine has been using her TikTok presence to challenge the societal norm of women without body or facial hair.
The influencer confessed the desire to escape the standard imposed by society in relation to female waxing.
She said: “I started shaving periodically. Afterwards, I appeared on social media and met many people who inspired me. They told me about their experiences and I said, 'No, this has to change'"
She posted to her 291,100 followers: "This doesn't make sense, what are we doing?
"First, I started spacing out my hair removal, I let it grow, started showing it on social media, and I found a lot of people who were inspired by it and told me about their experiences of suffering in adolescence because of hair, and I said, 'No, this has to change.'"
Martina's posts have gathered numerous responses, with a large amount of support and some criticism.
In one of her latest videos showing off her grown-out brows, a TikTok user commented: "I love your natural eyebrows! Divine lashes!"
In another post, someone commented: "I don't like women like this, but that's my problem; as long as you feel good and don't sadden anyone, everything is perfect."
However, Argentina’s videos has also received hate from TikTok viewers, with one user commenting: "You're not ugly, just your eyebrows, and that's it."
In her TikTok bio, Martina jokes: "This account belongs to my eyebrows."
She is also active on Instagram, where she has 11,300 followers and writes in her bio: "Activism about naturalising body hair in women."
Martina Díaz is not the only one that is using her voice on social media to tackle beauty standards.
Another influencer named Taylor Tilt also uses her TikTok account to show that she no longer uses waxing.
The TikTok star has not shaved for more than 10 years, she promotes her decision on her social accounts.
Taylor believes that the decisions we make in the body are personal and no negative comments affect her when it comes to waxing or not.
''I only shave my legs twice a year. My enemies are shocked,'' she said.
