TikTok CEO Shou Zi Chew is set to make an appearance at the “Make America Great Again Victory Rally” at Capitol One Arena in downtown Washington, DC, as reported by sources familiar with his plans. This event is taking place just before the president-elect is sworn in for his second term, and amidst discussions within Trump’s team on how to salvage the popular app.
President Trump recently announced his intention to postpone the controversial ban on TikTok for 90 days after assuming office. Following this announcement, the app, which had been inaccessible to US users in anticipation of the ban, began to come back online swiftly.
In response to Trump’s decision, TikTok released a statement expressing gratitude for the clarity provided by the President. The company pledged to collaborate with Trump on finding a lasting solution that would allow TikTok to continue operating in the United States.
Trump, in a post on his Truth Social platform, expressed optimism about TikTok’s future, assuring that he would not allow the app to remain inactive. He proposed a potential 'joint venture' where the US could acquire a 50% ownership stake in TikTok.
It has been previously reported that Chew is also expected to attend Trump’s inauguration, joining other tech leaders in participating in inaugural events.
