TikTok announces Eurovision Legends performance for Liverpool's EuroVillage

TikTok has been revealed as an official partner of the Eurovision Song Contest for a second year running.

The European Broadcasting Union (EBU) made the announcement just 50 days away from the Grand Final in Liverpool. The 67th edition of the biggest musical event on earth lands in Liverpool in May and will join forces with the streaming service.

TikTok says its community has over 7.8b viewers for #Eurovision already. As the official entertainment partner, TikTok bosses say it will offer specially created live streams and exclusive performances in app - from music playlists to behind-the-scenes content.

Users can join the conversation using #Eurovision2023 and search for Eurovision as the TikTok community of fans around the world celebrate the event.

Fan favourites and artists including Reiley and Marco Mengoni already have a catalogue of content to view including behind-the-scenes footage of performances and their day-to-day lifestyles.

By using TikTok Places, you can discover some of the best local spots recommended by the community - from the iconic Cavern Club to the must-visit vintage shops and the ultimate foodie destinations.

In the weeks the contest takes over the city, TikTok will support busking sites around Liverpool showing where stars get started - with local artists performing together for fans visiting from all over the world.

For those visiting Liverpool during the contest, TikTok will be hosting an exclusive legends performance in the official Eurovision Village - the official fanzone, on Friday, May 12, at 6.30pm. The Eurovision Legends lineup will be revealed in the coming weeks.

Rich Waterworth, General Manager Operations Europe for TikTok said: “Entertainment is at the heart of TikTok, and we're excited to partner with the Eurovision Song Contest once again to bring the magic of the world’s largest live music event to our community.

"We've seen Eurovision legends start their journeys on TikTok, like the UK's Sam Ryder and Eurovision songs thrive on the platform well beyond the contest itself, like Måneskin's Zitti e buoni. We can't wait to see what Eurovision 2023 has in store."

Martin Österdahl, Executive Supervisor of the Eurovision Song Contest said: “Millions of new Eurovision Song Contest fans discovered the event through TikTok last year and we know millions more will be excited by this year’s extra special event in Liverpool. Both the Eurovision Song Contest and TikTok provide an international platform for discovering fresh new music and artists and we look forward to working together in creating more huge hits in 2023.”

Susan Finnegan, Destination Liverpool Commercial Director, said: “We’re delighted to be partnering with TikTok, showcasing our iconic city on a global stage and telling the authentic story of Liverpool through the eyes of visitors – the content creators.

"Partnering with such an influential brand has the power to accelerate our destination positioning, and therefore support the growth of our glorious visitor economy sector. It is strategic Destination brand partnerships such as this which are truly transformational when harnessed in the right way – partnerships which make Liverpool once again stand out from the crowd nationally and internationally.”
