Tigers rookie Galvin to miss two weeks for hip-drop

Wests Tigers have been tasked with continuing their winning ways without breakout star Lachie Galvin after the five-eighth received a two-game ban for the hip-drop tackle he made against Parramatta.

Galvin was integral in the 17-16 upset on Easter Monday but went to the sin bin in the second half for putting a shot on Eels back-rower Kelma Tuilagi.

The tackle was only detected during a Parramatta captain's challenge on an unrelated error, with Tuilagi able to finish the game after Galvin left the field.

The match review committee released its charge sheet on the night of the game, as opposed to the more standard morning afterwards, citing the 18-year-old for grade-three dangerous contact.

With an early guilty plea, five-eighth Galvin will be suspended from matches against the Dolphins and St George Illawarra. He would risk missing a third game against Penrith by fighting the charge.

Tigers bench utility Jayden Sullivan is the likeliest man to come into the starting side, having begun the season in the halves before switching to the bench.

That could pave the way for highly-rated playmaker Latu Fainu to make his NRL debut from the bench in round five

Galvin's charge comes after Dolphins lock Max Plath received a two-game ban for his own hip-drop tackle on Gold Coast's Phil Sami on Saturday night.

"I don't think Lachie's was as bad as that," said Tigers coach Benji Marshall.

"But I didn't see it closely enough."

A gutsy Tigers outfit was able to hold the Eels at bay while Galvin sat in the sin bin, with the five-eighth setting up the Jahream Bula try that restored Wests' lead once he returned.

Aidan Sezer's late field goal sealed the victory, Wests' second from three games this season.
