Tiger Woods follows Rory McIlroy in calling for Greg Norman to step down as LIV Golf CEO

Tiger Woods has called on Greg Norman to step down as LIV Golf boss before any peace talks can take place to reunite golf.

Rory McIlroy had previously appealed for the controversial LIV CEO to stand down, which was echoed by Woods on Tuesday.

Golf has found itself in the midst of a civil war between the rebel tour and the more established PGA and DP World Tours.

Speaking ahead of the Hero World Challenge, which he is hosting but unable to play in because of injury, the former world No1 said of potential peace talks, “Not right now, not with their leadership.

“Not with Greg there and the animosity towards the tour itself. I don’t see that happening. As Rory said… Greg’s got to go. I think Greg has to go first of all, then we can all talk freely.”

A host of litigation is looming among the various tours in the coming months, which Woods suggested also needed to be resolved or else put on hold.

“I see that there’s an opportunity out there if both organisations put a stay on their litigation,” he said. “But that’s the problem, they’ve got to put a stay on it.

“And whether or not they do that or not, there’s no willingness to negotiate if you have a litigation against you. So, if they both have a stay and then have a break and then they can meet and figure something out, then maybe there is something to be had.”
