Tiger Woods and Rory McIlroy's TMRW Sports unveils star-studded list of investors

Golf stars Tiger Woods and Rory McIlroy have unveiled an elite list of names who have decided to invest in their company, TMRW Sports. The likes of seven-time F1 world champion Lewis Hamilton, NBA legend Stephen Curry, football great Alex Morgan, tennis icons Serena Williams and Andy Murray as well as NBA star Chris Paul, have signed up to the promising venture.

The announcement was made by Mike McCarley, founder and CEO, TMRW Sports, who unveiled the formation of the company in August along with the golfing duo, as well as early investor Dick Ebersol. He said: “Over the past year we’ve assembled a team of investors who will help deliver on the TMRW Sports’ mission to positively impact how sports are experienced in the future," McCarley said.

“And we’ve been intentional about diversity of expertise, thought and backgrounds as we mobilised this strategic group co-led by Connect Ventures and 25madison Ventures. From the very beginning our plan has been to partner with the best-in-class in every way imaginable and Tiger, Rory, and I value the support of this unrivalled team of investors, advisors, and ambassadors who believe in our vision to harness technology to create progressive approaches to sports.

“Their combined broad reach and cultural relevance will expand potential opportunities and fanbases for TMRW projects. Plus, many share a passion for golf that only adds more fuel to TGL, our first project in partnership with the PGA TOUR.” Through TMRW Sports, co-founders Woods and McIlroy will launch an innovative golf series that will take place on a virtual course inside an arena with a live audience. It will include a 15-match regular season starting in January 2024, and will feature six teams of PGA Tour players.

The venture was seemingly introduced as part of the PGA Tour's strong defence against the formation of the LIV Golf Series, which has been able to lure some of golf's biggest names away from the American-based circuit in exchange for huge sums on the controversial Saudi-backed series. . McIlroy took to twitter to welcome Hamilton and the rest of the sports stars who have opted to invest in their group.

“Excited for a great group of investors, including @LewisHamilton, to join @TigerWoods and me on the @TMRWSports team!”, he said. On TMRW’s official website, Woods expressed his excitement to work on the project. For the last few years off the course, I’ve been focused on helping to lead golf into its digital future.

“Now, by joining forces with Tiger, Mike, and other TMRW Sports partners, we can shape the way that media and technology improve the sports experience. In a world where technology provides us with so many choices for using our time, we want to make sports more accessible for as many people as possible."
