Tiger Martin ruled out of clash with Suns

Star Richmond midfielder Dustin Martin has been ruled out of Saturday's AFL clash with Gold Coast at Metricon Stadium with a hamstring injury.

Martin was subbed out of Sunday's 35-point AFL win over West Coast in the third term with what coach Damien Hardwick described as hamstring tightness.

Subsequent scans have confirmed a small strain, putting Martin out of action this week.

The Tigers have not set a timeline for Martin's return, with the 31-year-old to be reassessed next week.

The injury comes at a bad time for Martin, who had been building his fitness and form over the past seven games after returning from a stint of personal leave.

Martin tallied 17 disposals and a goal in the first half against West Coast before being subbed off in the third quarter.

"He was really good, electrifying, which was great," Hardwick said of Martin's performance.

"He had his agility back and the ability to move the ball and see the ground, you know, his kicking was A1 today also."

West Coast are sweating on the extent of Elliot Yeo's injury after the All-Australian tore his right hamstring.

Yeo suffered the injury while chasing Tigers speedster Maurice Rioli Jr, and he is facing another frustrating stint on the sidelines.

It continues a rotten run of luck for Yeo, who suffered a serious calf injury during the pre-season, and was then hit by COVID-19 and a bad concussion.

Collingwood defender Darcy Moore received good news when scans revealed he hadn't torn the ACL in his left knee.

Moore hyperextended his knee during his side's five-point win over Gold Coast, with scans revealing bone bruising and a capsule strain.

The Magpies will reassess Moore later this week to determine how long he will be out of action for.

Sydney's Isaac Heeney has recovered well from last week's knee niggle and will play in Friday night's clash with the Bulldogs at the SCG.
