Tierney handed rare Arsenal chance as Arteta plays defender out of position

Kieran Tierney has been given the nod for Arsenal this evening against PSV Eindhoven.

The North London club are 7-1 up going into the second leg of the Champions League last-16 tie after a terrific performance and result in the Netherlands last week.

Their considerable advantage has allowed boss Mikel Arteta to tweak his team this evening, with the Spaniard making five alterations from last week.

Despite youngster Miles Lewis-Skelly keeping his place at left-back, Tierney has been handed a start and, rather interestingly, will play on the left wing.

The 27-year-old, who has signed a pre-contract to return to Celtic in the summer, played higher up the pitch than usual for Arsenal in a brief cameo against Manchester United at Old Trafford on Sunday.

He now gets the nod in attack, with Mikel Merino playing up top through the middle and Raheem Sterling on the right-hand side.

Kick-off at the Emirates Arena is at 8pm as Arsenal look to confirm their place in the last eight of the Champions League.
