Tierney details Celtic & Rangers rivalry with Arteta and insists 'silence is deafening'

KIERAN TIERNEY insists he still gets involved in a Celtic and Rangers back-and-forth wit Mikel Arteta even if the Spaniard is his boss.

Tierney has remained a favourite among Celtic supporters and has never hid his connection with the club even after departing for London.

And that extends to the point where he's involved in banter with manager Arteta over the Glasgow rivalry.

Tierney revealed last season was tough - despite the league win - as he was taking a "hammering" during Rangers' Europa League run.

The ex-Celtic full-back told the Daily Mail that Arteta was giving him stick as Rangers advanced to the final before a shoot-out defeat to Eintracht Frankfurt.

But Tierney insists he's had the final laugh with Arteta silenced after the Euro final loss as he beamed: "The silence is deafening".

On talking about Rangers and Celtic with the Arsenal boss, Tierney said: "All the time.

"He was hammering me last season because they were in the last-16 of the Europa League, then the quarter-finals, then the semi-finals.

"After the final he never said a word!

"He's the boss so I can't say too much to him!

"Don't worry, the silence was deafening!"
