Tierney Celtic transfer consequence amid £30m Arsenal talks with Dortmund & Atletico

The potential loan move for Kieran Tierney to join Celtic this month could be scuppered by a separate £30m Arsenal transfer.

It's reported Celtic are keen on sealing a return for the full-back this month on a six-month loan with a view to a free transfer move in the summer.

Celtic are thought to be ready to bring Tierney back to Glasgow in the summer when his contract expires at the Emirates.

However, it's thought a loan from Arsenal until the end of the season was an avenue Brendan Rodgers and his recruitment staff were exploring.

The Daily Record states, though, that a loan switch for Tierney could be ruled out by Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta should Oleksandr Zinchenko leave the club.

The Ukrainian internationalist has been linked with a £30m transfer exit to Borussia Dortmund or Atletico Madrid this month.

Should Zinchenko leave, then it would see Arsenal with only Myles Lewis-Skelly and Tierney as natural left-backs.

Jurrien Timber has been deployed at left-back for Arsenal too with Riccardo Califiori available to fill in but it's unclear whether Arteta would sanction exits for both Zinchenko and Tierney.

Young prospect Lewis-Skelly will also be suspended now after being sent off in Arsenal's win over Wolves on Saturday.

The 18-year-old was ordered off in the first half as Arsenal went on to claim a late 1-0 win with the hosts also reduced to ten men in the second half.

Tierney has had his game time seriously limited at Arsenal in recent seasons first through injury before being shipped out on loan to Real Sociedad.

The Scotland internationalist has come back into the fold more recently with a string of substitute appearances and was called upon in the final few minutes at Molineux on Saturday.
