The Frenchman spent last season on with AC Milan and helped the club win Serie A for the first in over a decade and dramatic footage shows the moment he was pulled over by armed police in the Italian city.
Bakayoko is said to have reached a roadblock in the Porta Garibaldi area and was then reportedly forced out of his vehicle at gunpoint.
In a video tweeted by Italian journalist Tancredi Palmeri, the 27-year-old can be seen pressed up against a police car while a male officer undertakes a thorough patdown. Two other officers are keep their firearms pointed at Bakayoko’s car.
Bakayoko’s pockets appear to be emptied during the ordeal, the contents of which are placed on the roof.

One of the officers appears to realise the case of mistaken identity and the search ends.
Bakayoko is expected to leave Chelsea this summer after failing to convince following his £40m from Monaco in 2017, with Marseille emerging as an option.
“After a shootout in the area where the midfielder happened to be, the police started making checks,” an AC Milan spokesperson said.
“The player was stopped but as soon as the police verified that he had nothing to do with what happened, they apologised and let him go.”
