Thunderstorms expected as yellow weather warning in place for part of Scotland

A YELLOW weather warning is in place for much of the north of Scotland today.

The Met Office says that heavy showers and thunderstorms are expected to develop “in a few places”.

On the forecaster’s website, the Met Office has detailed what people in the area should expect.

This includes driving conditions being “affected by spray, standing water and/or hail, leading to longer journey times by car and bus”.

It also added that “delays to train services are possible” while “some short-term loss of power and other services is likely”.

Some flooding is also likely which could lead to “some damage to buildings or structures”.

The warning is in place until 8pm this evening.
