Thunderstorm warning issued as rain set to batter West Lothian

The Met Office have issued a yellow weather warning for West Lothian as drivers are urged to use caution.

Thunderstorms and heavy rain is expected to batter the county until 8pm tonight.

The Met Office has also warned that there is a small chance that homes and businesses could be flooded quickly, with damage to some buildings from floodwater, lightning strikes, hail or strong winds

People in West Lothian should also prepare for travel delays and some cancellations to train and bus services and that spray and sudden flooding could lead to 'difficult driving conditions and some road closures.

There is also a slight chance that power cuts could occur and other services to some homes and businesses could be lost in amongst the downpour.

The rain is expected to ease up at around the 8pm tonight.
