Thunder to bat first against Heat in BBL

The Brisbane Heat have won the toss and elected to bowl first in their Big Bash League clash with the Sydney Thunder at Metricon Stadium.

These two sides meet again on the Gold Coast just two days after the Thunder destroyed the Heat by 10 wickets at the Sydney Showground Stadium.

On that occasion, swashbuckling half-centuries from Matthew Gilkes and Alex Hales helped the hosts chase down their measly target of 122 with 50 balls to spare.

Now the pair have the chance to show what they're made of batting first as they aim to post a sizeable total after being sent in on Thursday evening.

Despite their heavy defeat, Brisbane have only made one change to their line-up with allrounder James Bazley coming in for fast bowler Xavier Bartlett.

Unsurprisingly, the Thunder head into this game unchanged.

Both teams have made sluggish starts to the 12th edition of the BBL.

The bottom-placed Heat (1-3) are searching for their second win of the summer while the Thunder (2-3) will break into the top five if they are victorious.

BRISBANE HEAT: Jimmy Peirson (capt), Max Bryant, Colin Munro, Matt Renshaw, Sam Billings, Ross Whiteley, Michael Neser, James Bazley, Mark Steketee, Matthew Kuhnemann, Mitch Swepson

SYDNEY THUNDER: Chris Green (capt), Matthew Gilkes, Alex Hales, Rilee Rossouw, Oliver Davies, Daniel Sams, Alex Ross, Nathan McAndrew, Gurinder Sandhu, Brendan Doggett, Usman Qadir.
