And, a house fire in Lancashire is beleived to have been caused by a lightning strike. Firefighters were called to a blaze at a property in Thornton Cleveleys, on Sunday afternoon (July 9). Four crews from Bispham, Wesham, St Annes, South Shore responded to the call on Bluebell Close.

Also in attendance was an aerial ladder platform from Blackpool. Pictures shared on social media showed plumes of smoke coming from the roof of the property. One eyewitness wrote: "Lightning struck a house Bluebell Close, Pheasants Wood, Thornton."

The Met Office says the week ahead will feature sunny spells, showers and the risk of hail and thunder.

For today in the Manchester area it says we can exppect: "Another fine and dry start with scattered showers developing through the day which will merge into longer spells of heavy rain during the afternoon, potentially turning thundery at times. Breezy and turning rather gusty in heavy showers. Average temperatures. Maximum temperature 20 °C."

For tonight it is forecast to stay cloudy into the evening with a continued risk of showers overnight. Rather breezy too, particularly around coasts. Feeling mild though not quite as muggy as of late. Minimum temperature 12 °C."

Tomorrow is predicted to be another unsettled day with sunny spells and showers, once again showers could turn heavy with a risk of thunder. Another fairly breezy day with similar temperatures to Monday. Maximum temperature 19 °C."

The outlook for Wednesday and Friday is staying unsettled with further scattered showers, though plenty of dry and sunny spells in between. Breezy at times and little change in temperatures as they remain around the seasonal average.
