Thunder and hail is set to blitz Ireland today with the public warned to expect sudden heavy showers.
Anyone heading out and about is advised to bring an umbrella as showers are set to soak much of the country on Tuesday.
Met Eireann says showers will be “quite widespread”, “heavy” and “slow-moving”.

It added that there is a chance of “hail and thunder” in parts.
A forecaster said: “Showers will become quite widespread over the country today interspersed with sunny spells. Showers will be heavy and slow-moving in places, with a chance of hail and thunder.
“Showers will become few and far between in the west and north this evening. Highest temperatures of 10C to 13C with light northwest breezes.”
It comes as temperatures could plummet below freezing overnight with fog and frost possible.
The National Forecaster said: “Lingering showers will die out early tonight becoming dry and clear. Fog will likely form in many areas with calm conditions. Another cold night with a touch of grass frost possible with lowest temperatures of -1C to 3C.”
There is some good weather news for later in the week thanks to an easterly airflow which is due to create dry and mild conditions.
A forecaster said: “An easterly airflow will become established with some showers for the rest of the week and a good deal of dry weather overall. Mild, with daytime highs in the mid-teens and not as cold at night.”
Looking ahead to tomorrow, it said: “Some mist or fog to start on Wednesday, clearing in the morning as sunny spells develop, although some may linger for longer on eastern coasts.
“Most areas will be dry with sunny spells and just the chance of an isolated shower later. It will however turn cloudier in western areas with some drizzle developing on the coast. Light to moderate southerly breezes, with highs of 11C to 15C.”

Thursday is expected to be a mix of “well scattered showers and good sunny spells” with daytime temperatures of 13C to 16C in a “moderate easterly breeze”.
The current indications for Friday are that it will be “breezy” with “well scattered showers” and daytime temperatures of 13C to 16C.
Looking ahead to the weekend Met Eireann says Saturday will be a mix of showers and bright spells with temperatures of 13C to 15C, while Sunday is set to see further showers move in from the Irish Sea, with the chance for “longer spells of rain” in the south and east and daytime temperatures of 12C to 15C.
