A man who celebrated the birth of his first child by glassing a professional model in the head and punching a bouncer was beginning a two year and seven month jail term.
Charlie Paterson was drunk in a pub in the early hours of Sunday March 3, following a Saturday spent out celebrating the fact that his partner was due to give birth that night, when he got into an argument on the dance floor with a woman aged 36 years.
The violent 32-year-old, who had a string of previous convictions, smashed a pint glass into the woman's face, leaving the professional model with a laceration to her forehead requiring stitches - the court heard she could no longer work as a model due to her injuries.
When a male bouncer pulled the out-of-control Paterson outside, the defendant smacked the 32-year-old in the jaw.

Paterson, of Oxford Road, Cowley, Oxford, Oxon., was arrested following the attacks at the Cow and Creek public house on New Road and admitted inflicting grievous bodily harm without intent and assault, for which he was jailed for two years and seven months at Oxford Crown Court.
Designated Case Investigator, Steven Nicklin, of Oxford station , said: "This was a terrifying incident for both victims, one of which has been scarred for life.
"I would like to pay tribute to the victims in this investigation, who have acted with the utmost dignity and bravery throughout.
"This sentence reflects the seriousness of offences such as this, and I hope it can bring some form of closure for the victims."
