A thug stabbed a 76-year-old man who tried to separate a bar brawl.
Martin Allan, 33, lashed out at John McLean at 100 Acres Bar in Rutherglen, South Lanarkshire, on September 26 2021.
Mr McLean got involved after Allan had earlier attempted to strike Ryan Walsh who was involved in another fight.

Allan pled guilty yesterday at Glasgow Sheriff Court to assaulting Mr McLean to his severe injury and permanent disfigurement.
The first time offender also admitted assaulting Mr Walsh. The court heard that Allan was with another man at the bar.
Prosecutor Jessica McGowan stated that the man had an altercation with Mr Walsh. The man was ejected as a result while Mr Walsh re-entered the pub.
Miss McGowan said: "Allan reached into the waistband of his jeans and took out a bladed article and struck out towards Mr Walsh.
"This caused a disturbance and Mr McLean approached Allan to separate him from Mr Walsh."
Allan asked Mr McLean: "What are you wanting?."
Mr McLean "believing he was under attack" punched Allan.
Miss McGowan added: "Allan made several blows with the blade causing Mr McLean injury."
Police attended quickly and Mr McLean was taken to hospital.
He was treated for 10 and 11 inch wounds to the torso as well as cuts to his chest and right arm.
Allan attended a police station and handed himself in.
Elaine Rae, defending, told the court that electrical engineer Allan is a new dad with his partner giving birth yesterday.
The lawyer added: "He appreciates the seriousness of these charges.
"At the time there were difficult and traumatic circumstances that he was going through."
Sheriff Tony Kelly deferred sentence pending background reports until next month.
He said: "In light of the gravity of these maters, custody is not just at the forefront but is inevitable.
"However, you are in employment and have family circumstances so I will allow bail to continue."
