A Lanarkshire thug was knocked unconscious after he tried to attack a man with a glass bottle and a broken snooker cue.
Scott Donnelly was left in a pool of blood after being overpowered by another man in Cambuslang, on June 27, 2021.
Donnelly's 'victim' disarmed the 30-year-old in the lift of a block of flats after being initially struck with the weapons.
The yob later required stitches to close a head wound at a hospital where he head butted a police officer.
Donnelly pled guilty today at Glasgow Sheriff Court to assaulting the man and PC Jamie Petrie.
He also admitted behaving in a threatening or abusive manner.
The court heard the man was in the lift of Donnelly's tower block when he was approached.
The court watched horror CCTV of Donnelly's initial strikes to the man's body.
The victim was then seen to take possession of the bottle of Buckfast and snapped snooker cue during the struggle.
Donnelly was seen with bleeding injuries to the face and head as the man continued to strike blows.
Prosecutor Mark Allan said: "What you now see is Donnelly lying face down on the ground in a pool of his own blood.
"The lift door is then seen to close on Donnelly's head."
Donnelly's 'victim' fled the scene meantime before police arrived and took Donnelly to hospital.
The hearing was told Donnelly was abusive towards the officers and hospital staff.
Donnelly headbutted constable Jamie Petrie who fortunately escaped uninjured.
Paul Sutherland, defending, told the court that Donnelly had earlier argued with Mr Brown which turned heated.
He added: "He left the premises and made a poor judgement call to return and was the victim of instant karma which he only has himself to blame.
"He knows he behaved entirely unacceptably and he apologises to the police and hospital staff."
It was revealed that Donnelly has a previous conviction for an assault to severe injury and permanent disfigurement from 2019.
Sentence was deferred pending background reports until next month by sheriff Matthew Jackson QC who continued Donnelly's remand in custody meantime.
