Thug kicked innocent pensioner in the head for no reason outside Sainsbury's

A thug has been jailed for a year after launching an unprovoked attack on a pensioner.

Benjamin Jones kicked the innocent victim in the head as he walked across Sainsbury's car park in Warrington. Jones has never given any reason why he assaulted the 75-year-old pensioner at 10.35pm on June 10,

In a statement, Cheshire Constabulary said: "At one point he was on the floor when Jones kicked him to the head leaving him on the floor bleeding from his injuries. Witnesses came to his aid, and he was treated in hospital."

Jones of Trafford Avenue, Bewsey and Whitecross, Warrington, appeared at Chester Magistrates to admit the charge of assault occasioning actual bodily harm. He was then sentenced to 12 months in prison.

PC Ryan Stant said: “Jones has never told us the reason behind his violent behaviour, but it was inexcusable and shocking no matter what. To attack an elderly man going about his business, leaving him with distressing facial injuries is just incomprehensible.

"Thankfully, Jones is now behind bars for his vicious act of violence against an innocent man.”
