Thug attacked and robbed boy for phone and wallet in Buchanan bus station

A thug who brutally attacked a 14-year-old boy and robbed him of his mobile has been jailed for 12 months.

Youcef Boutoubane pounced on the boy at Glasgow city centre's Buchanan Bus Station on July 4, 2021.

The 19-year-old followed the victim before punching and dragging him to the ground.

He later rummaged through the teenager's bag and also made off with his Armani wallet.

Boutoubane pled guilty at Glasgow Sheriff Court to assault and robbery of the boy.

The court heard the boy and his friend were walking to meet a parent at the station.

A group of two men and two women - including Boutoubane - were arguing as the boys approached.

Boutoubane said to the victim: "Wit?" before the boy replied the same back.

The victim was told not to "get wide" before the two boys left the station.

Boutoubane followed the victim and chasing him around the bus station - calling him a "specky b******."

Prosecutor Claire Wallace said: "Boutoubane caught up with him and struck the boy with his fist.

"Thereafter dragged him to the ground where he continued to assault him."

Boutoubane demanded what was inside the boy's bag before stealing his iPhone and wallet.

He said: "Glasgow boys don't forget" before fleeing the scene.

Boutoubane was later traced after a warrant was granted.

Sheriff Johanna Johnston QC put Boutoubane under supervision for four months upon his release from prison.
