As the sun continues to shine and the evenings get slowly but surely lighter you might be thinking about spending more time outdoors. If you are looking for inspiration for places to explore in Wales, especially if you love water, three Welsh waterfalls have been named in the top 15 most beautiful waterfalls in the UK by outdoor clothing and equipment store GO Outdoors.
Pistyll Rhaeadr, Waterfall Country and Henrhyd Falls have all made the top 15, with one waterfall being named the third most beautiful waterfall to visit in the UK. Pistyll Rhaeadr came third, Waterfall Country came eighth and Henrhyd Falls came 15th.
The Pistyll Rhaeadr waterfall is located in the Berwyn Mountains and is one of the largest waterfalls in the UK. It is listed as one of the ‘Seven Wonders of Wales’ and it is relatively easy to access for all abilities with a car park and tea room located at the bottom of the falls. Local legend has it that a winged serpent lived in the lake at the top of the falls, and would fly down into the local village to steal children, women or animals before eating them.

Waterfall Country is an area in the Brecon Beacons that features a number of waterfalls and scenery carved out by years of rushing water. This area features the four falls walk, which is by far the most popular way to see the area. The most famous of all the falls in the area is probably Sgwd Yr Eira, due to the fact that you can actually walk behind the water.
Henrhyd Falls is also in the Brecon Beacons and is not too far from Waterfall Country. It is the tallest waterfall in south Wales and was used as the waterfall protecting the Batcave in Batman film, ‘The Dark Knight Rises.
