Three ways Arsenal can line up against Leicester as Mikel Arteta faces Thomas Partey decision

Arsenal travel to the King Power Stadium this afternoon as they face Leicester City in the Premier League. The Gunners are two points ahead of Manchester City at the top of the table and will hope another win can put pressure on Pep Guardiola's side, with City set to face Bournemouth this evening.

The Gunners left it late to return to winning ways against Aston Villa last weekend with two injury time goals as Emiliano Martinez's own goal and Gabriel Martinelli's strike sealed the victory with seconds to spare at Villa Park. City dropped points against Nottingham Forest, seeing the north Londoners return to the Premier League summit.

It was a welcome boost for Mikel Arteta and his players after going without a win in their three previous fixtures prior to facing Villa. Arsenal will now hope they can kick on and put together a run of results with Europa League action set to return in a couple of weeks time.

Arteta provided a positive update on Thomas Partey and Gabriel Jesus ahead of the game against the Foxes, with the former potentially available for selection once again. football.london takes a look at the three ways Arsenal can line up against Leicester this afternoon.

Thomas Partey return

If Partey is passed fit for the game this afternoon then Arteta could thrust him back into the starting line up immediately in place of Jorginho. The £12million January signing has performed well in Partey's absence, but the Ghana international has proved to be a key player for Arteta in the holding midfield role this season and may be needed against Leicester's attacking threat.

Speaking ahead of the trip to the King Power Stadium, Arteta said: "The question mark on Thomas. He hasn’t trained much but looks like he could be available.

"Let’s see how he goes today. We’ve missed him in the past few games and hopefully he’ll be back."

Possible starting XI: Ramsdale; White, Saliba, Gabriel, Zinchenko; Partey, Xhaka, Odegaard; Saka, Nketiah, Martinelli.

Jorginho stays in

If there is any question marks over whether Partey could play from the start then it may make more sense to stick with Jorginho. The Italy international has performed well in that role for Arteta since signing and his ability to dictate play could prove crucial against the Foxes.

Possible starting XI: Ramsdale; White, Saliba, Gabriel, Zinchenko; Jorginho, Xhaka, Odegaard; Saka, Nketiah, Martinelli.

Trossard and Tomiyasu chance

Despite having a full week to prepare for the game against Leicester, Arteta may continue to rotate his options and give Leandro Trossard and Takehiro Tomiyasu another chance to start. The fixtures continue to come thick and fast so the Arsenal boss will need to manage his squad well heading towards the title run-in.

Possible starting XI: Ramsdale; Tomiyasu, Saliba, Gabriel, Zinchenko; Partey, Xhaka, Odegaard; Saka, Nketiah, Trossard.
