Three things we learned as Hibs suffer late agony and Johnson given first league loss at Livingston

A late Livingston header from Ayo Obileye inflicted a first Premiership defeat of the season upon Hibs as they went down 2-1 in West Lothian.

It was a tough first half for boss Lee Johnson to watch as his side managed to get down the tunnel at 1-0 down. Lions striker Joel Nouble was having a field day and beat the entire Hibs defence to open up the scoring.

He almost made it two before the break and would have done had it not been for a terrific David Marshall save.

Martin Boyle was brought from the bench in place of Jair Tavares and it seemed to lift the mood for Johnson's men. No sooner than five minutes into the second period they were level, Nohan Kenneh on the end of a penalty box scramble to put a chance high into the net.

Tensions rose on and off the pitch with Marshall again called up to this time deny Bruce Anderson at short range, but he could do nothing to stop Obileye as Hibs sit on four points after three games.

Here are three things we learned from the match;

Contrasting halves

It was one-way traffic in the first half. Hibs were miles off it in the first half and Johnson will have been disappointed with that, but they came storming out the traps after a stern dressing room word.

There were still some concerning moments though as Livi pressed for a winner, but they were aggressive in attack. In the end their defence shot them in the foot.

Boyle lift

He came off the bench to score a last-minute derby leveller and his introduction lifted Leith spirits here. Boyle seems to be carrying a one-man army load of positivity and 45 minutes of football will do him the world of good.

Reality check

There was a buzz after last week's derby drama but that has been squashed here. Boyle's signing has some hopes for the season ahead but this showed much work has to be done, with both goals coming far too easy for Livingston.
