Three things we learned as Hibs extend good form against Ross County thanks to Porteous and Boyle

Ryan Porteous returned from his Scotland heroics to help Hibs onto a 2-0 Premiership victory in the Highlands against Ross County.

The Easter Road stopper helped his side into fourth in the table. Lee Johnson’s men wrapped up the three points in the second half with Martin Boyle also netting. But it was Porteous who broke the deadlock just after half time. The towering defender turned striker as he met a Joe Newell long throw in and calmly slotted home. Boyle then wrapped up the win with a brilliant finish after being picked out by Chris Cadden.

It tops off a stunning week for Porteous who earned rave reviews for his Scotland debut helping the national side to a famous draw against Ukraine. A composed performance in Poland was rounded off by another dominant display and goal as Hibs sealed another win on the back of their impressive 3-1 victory over Aberdeen. Here are three things we learned as Hibs leapfrogged Edinburgh rivals Hearts into fourth.

Man of the moment

Porteous has ended a fine week as a Scotland hero by continuing his fine form as a Hibs one. The fan favourite is having the season of his life and his consistency is showing week in week out.

He also proved his ability to a goal threat in the opposition box.

Boyle blossoming again

Everyone at Easter Road would have been chuffed to see Boyle back after losing him last year. The quick attacker was Hibs main man under Jack Ross and is starting to find form again after being eased back into things.

His finish today was classic from the Australian international as he drifted in the box and fired home a trademark goal. If Hibs are to banish their bottom six status picked up last season, Boyle could make all the difference.

Positives all round

Today was another massive three points for Johnson’s side. Hibs hard to work hard for the points but their result means it’s three wins in a row.

They have overtaken their Edinburgh rivals after Hearts lost 4-0 to Rangers to sit fourth. A good day all round for the Easter Road side who host Motherwell next.
