Three things that will 'definitely' happen at Chelsea following Leeds' Marcelo Bielsa decision

Marcelo Bielsa's downfall at Elland Road was swift and brutal. Within seven days, 14 goals were conceded and Leeds' Premier League status was put into jeopardy as they continued to drop like a stone.

Although Bielsa's reputation was strong before joining Leeds in 2018 and his influence over modern coaching is undeniable, the pure incompetence of his side this season has been hard to justify, particularly from a footballing mind that is so blindly defended by many.

But his exit will probably have serious ramifications given his influence over Leeds' promotion back to the top tier and the players he helped convince join the club.

Although former RB Leipzig coach Jesse Marsch is being widely tipped to be appointed imminently, the Yorkshire club find themselves firmly in a relegation battle.

The appointment of Marsch probably demonstrates Leeds will not be straying too far from their predecessor's principles, even if the American can be more pragmatic.

But the Argentine's exit will have a knock-on effect not only in the transfer market but on the style of coaching in the top tier.

Here are three things that will 'definitely' happen at Chelsea following Leeds' Marcelo Bielsa decision.

Raphinha will be targeted

We had already heard murmurs of Chelsea's interest in Leeds' star man and given Bielsa helped to bring the Brazillian to the Premier League in 2020, his exit might make a transfer inevitable this summer.

A rumoured relegation clause of around £20m would be a steal for Chelsea if Leeds cannot avoid the drop.

Even if Marsch steadies the ship, Raphinha could become Tuchel's big attacking addition of the summer.

Less dogmatic coaches

If you listen to Bielsa's strongest admirers they will applaud his belief in one style.

He is a highly-principled coach who has gone on record stating he does not mind losing if his football has cultivated something more meaningful to the people who watch it.

There's a lot to like in that belief, particularly in the uber-serious modern game where results define everything. But as Chelsea found out with Maurizio Sarri, there can be significant drawbacks to such dogmatic approaches.

A lack of flexibility when things go wrong, a sudden air of predictability and ease to be undermined have all ultimately been to Bielsa's detriment and so too Sarri's.

For all Pep Guardiola's style of play has been lauded, he is highly flexible given the opponent. Thomas Tuchel has shown a similar ability to adapt at Chelsea.

A change in approach

When Chelsea travel to Leeds on the 16th of April for the return Premier League fixture at Elland Road, Thomas Tuchel might be opting for different tactics.

Given how quickly Marsch implements his ideas we can expect a very different Leeds side and Tuchel has shown consistently how willing he is to rotate.

Coming up against Bielsa's Leeds gave a lot of teams tactical advantages. A knowledge that Leeds can barely defend set-pieces and if their press is beaten, there is space to exploit were clear weaknesses to exploit.

That could change come April and Chelsea must be ready.
