Three teenagers seriously injured in fiery crash involving stolen car at Brightview, west of Brisbane

Three teenagers are in hospital with serious injuries after a crash involving a stolen car west of Brisbane this morning.

Police said the sedan had been attempting to overtake a truck around 6am on Brightview Road, near Fernvale, when it struck a pole and caught fire.

They said the car had been stolen from a home in the Brisbane suburb of Clayfield overnight.

Two 15-year-old boys and a 17-year-old girl were taken to hospital.

A Queensland Ambulance Service (QAS) spokesperson said all three teenagers were in a critical condition when initially transported.

QAS senior operations supervisor Mark Nugent said members of the local community arrived before first responders and provided first aid and assistance until paramedics arrived.

He said paramedics found a confronting scene.

"The scene was quite horrific, with a very significant incident which had quite a high impact which did have multiple persons who were critically injured," he said.

"One of the things that can't be underestimated is the local community and their willingness to support us and all our emergency services. They did an exceptionally good job."

Teenagers avoided blaze

Mr Nugent said one of the boys, who was flown by helicopter to the Royal Brisbane and Women's Hospital, had "life-threatening" injuries.

He remains in a critical condition, police said.

The girl, who was flown to the Princess Alexandra Hospital, was "extremely badly injured" with abdominal and pelvic injuries as well as long bone fractures, is now in a stable condition, Mr Nugent said.

Mr Nugent said the injuries of the other boy, who was taken by road to the Queensland Children's Hospital, were not as severe, but required ongoing treatment and he is now in a stable condition.

All three teenagers were found outside the car, which Mr Nugent said may have saved their lives given the car caught fire.

It took three fire crews about 30 minutes to extinguish the blaze.

A police investigation is underway, with the Forensic Crash Unit on the scene this morning.

Investigators are appealing for witnesses or anyone with dashcam footage of the accident to come forward.
