During the burglary, police said a window was smashed in an attempt to gain entry.
Following the incident, Greater Manchester Police urged a warning to residents to be proactive about personal security and to ensure doors and windows to their properties were locked.
Sergeant Kevin Martinelli, of GMP's Stockport District, said: "Burglary offences are intrusive and we are aware of the impact they have on victims.
"GMP continues its fight against burglary offences, whilst proactive teams focus on preventing and reducing this type of crime. We are asking the public to be switched on regarding their personal security. Most of our breaks are from insecure doors, windows and garage doors.
"We hope this morning's action builds public trust and confidence that GMP is committed to investigating neighbourhood crimes whilst keeping communities safe.”
