“On July 1, we have something huge planned with the Blues," The telecommunications company announced.

“We don’t want to give the game away just yet, so make sure you pop back.”

The tease of the announcement comes as the outside of Stamford Bridge takes on something of a makeover.

The pictures of the players in the Chelsea kit have been replaced by those players in the new Nike kit.

Chelsea fans will have to wait for confirmation over the new strip, which is expected to come over the coming days.

"Chelsea FC is a great match for Three – we share the same values and are both playing to win," Dave Dyson, CEO of Three UK, said in a statement.

"This partnership is a great way to kick off 2020, when we are building the UK’s fastest 5G network and Chelsea are building the best team.

"Chelsea FC is many teams in one club – and it is important to us that this sponsorship covers not only the men’s team, but also the women’s and the Academy as well."
