Authorities in Los Angeles are actively searching for three suspects involved in a tragic incident that resulted in the death of a man on a Metro train on Friday night. The victim, identified as Juan Garcia, 38, was fatally shot in the head following an altercation with a group of men at the Metro E Line stop at La Cienega and Jefferson boulevards around 7:40 p.m.

Garcia was pronounced dead at the scene, leaving behind a devastated family. Described as a father of four and the eldest sibling of seven, his family has set up a GoFundMe page to seek support for his funeral arrangements.

The suspects, all males aged between 15 and 20, fled the scene before law enforcement arrived, prompting a thorough investigation into the motive behind the shooting. Anyone with information is urged to contact LAPD's South Bureau Homicide Division detectives at 323-786-5111.

This tragic incident adds to a concerning trend of violence on LA Metro's property, with this being the seventh attack reported between April and May. In response to the escalating safety concerns, Metro has expressed condolences to the victim's family and emphasized the need for enhanced security measures.

LA Mayor and Metro Board Chair Karen Bass has called for increased law enforcement presence across the transit system, leading to the unanimous approval of adding 260 officers for daily patrols. The aim is to safeguard the nearly million weekday riders and maintain the progress made in public transportation accessibility.

As the community mourns the loss of Juan Garcia and grapples with the implications of such violence, efforts are underway to ensure the safety and security of all individuals utilizing the bus and rail system in Greater Los Angeles.
