Three Scottish schools face 'emergency closure' over water failures, council warns

THREE Scottish schools have been subject to “emergency closure” after issues with the water supply.

West Lothian Council warned that Winchburgh Academy, Sinclair Academy, and Holy Family Primary School had all been impacted by a mechanical failure and would need to shut.

The Winchburgh Sports Hub has also been impacted, the local authority warned.

In a statement on social media, West Lothian Council said: “Emergency school closure. Winchburgh Academy, Sinclair Academy and Holy Family Primary School are closing early today due to a mechanical failure impacting water supply to all three schools.

“All parents have been informed of arrangements via group call.

“The Winchburgh Sports Hub is also impacted. Xcite will be in touch with customers regarding their arrangements for their facilities at the school campus.”

Responding to one parent who said she had not received a call to tell her of the closure, the local authority added: “They have been sent. It might just be delayed in reaching you.”
