Three people have been rushed to hospital following a horror smash on the A965 in Orkney. The collision took place shortly after 6.30pm on Saturday, October 15 and involved two cars.
Emergency services, including Police Scotland and Scottish Ambulance Service, rushed to the scene between Kirkwall and Finstown to assist the victims. Three people were taken to Balfour Hospital for treatment as a result.
The ages of the individuals, as well as the extent of their injuries and their current condition in hospital, is not yet known. The road was locked down overnight while crash site investigators probed the incident and is yet to reopen, with enquiries ongoing.
Motorists have been advised of a diversion in place through Zions Loan and Old Finnstown Road.
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “We were called around 6.40pm on Saturday October 15 to a report of a two car crash on the A965 between Kirkwall and Finstown.
“Three people were taken to Balfour Hospital for treatment. The road remains closed while collision investigation work is carried out.”
