Three men arrested on suspicion of murder after an "unexplained" death at a landmark Salford tower block have been released under investigation. But further tests are to be carried out to try and establish how the man died.
At around 10.30pm on Friday June 17 emergency services descended upon Briar Hill Court, following concerning reports about a man who was unconscious. Despite being rushed to hospital, the man died a short time later. He has yet to be identified.
In a statement issued today to the Manchester Evening News, Greater Manchester Police said: "A post mortem has been done but we are now waiting for toxicology results to confirm cause of death. The three arrested have been released under investigation."

The Manchester Evening News understands that the man who died and the three arrested had all been together in a flat in the 25-storey, 1970 block, which looms above Salford Precinct.
With huge red lettering on the side and an arrow pointing towards the shopping precinct below, the building is an instantly recognisable part of Salford's skyline. The block was sold to a private company by Salford council in 1994.
The block was featured in a painting by artist Chelsea Entwistle wrapped in fairy lights in an image used on Christmas Cards last year.
At the weekend a GMP spokesman said: "Officers were called to Briar Hill Court, Salford, at about 10:25pm on 17 June 2022 to reports a man was unconscious. NWAS also attended and took the man to hospital where he was sadly pronounced dead about an hour later.
"His death is currently being treated as unexplained and enquiries are ongoing. Three men have been arrested on suspicion of murder and remain in custody while the full circumstances are established."
In 2016 a dramatic kitchen fire broke out on the 20th floor of Briar Hill Court. Although no-one was hurt in the blaze, a small number of residents in the 134-flat complex were treated for smoke inhalation while others residents fled the building during the drama.
